Letters to the Editor

Alliant Powder begins a new tradition of user support with Letters to the Editor. This feature is our latest communication tool, allowing our customers to submit questions to our Master Reoader. Of course, we'll screen all the questions, but if we pick your letter, you'll be featured on this page.

Dear Alliant Powder:

Why is STEEL powder not listed in any of the bushing charts?

Signed,
Duck Hunter

Duck Hunter,

Alliant Powder does not recommend the use of bushings when loading steel shot. Reloading steel shot requires more attention to detail. The pressures generated with steel shot are prone to fluctuate more than with lead shot. For this reason, we recommend the extra precision of hand weighing your powder and shot charges. It important to precisely adhere to our reloading recipe as stated. No substitutions should be made. You should also use a commercially available sealant to seal the primer and crimp.

Ad 1 Alliant Powders, First A Cleaner Burn, Now A Cleaner Look.

First we made our clean-burning Red Dot® powder 50% cleaner than ever before—and introduced American Select®, our brand new "ultra clean" burning powder. Now we're putting every Alliant formula into bold new containers, designed to look as clean—and as strong—as the powders inside them. Just one thing hasn't changed. Alliant powders still deliver the same consistent performance reloaders have trusted for over a century. We know better than to change the best.
